This is a PRE-ORDER for the book An Account of the Lengthy Existence and Numerous Experiences of Ambrose Blackhouse, Vampire, With Special Attention to Those Years in Which He Walked Upon This Earth Tho Dead, an Illustrated Novel by Tim Denee.
Hereafter it shall be called The Book.
(Cover is a mockup but gives you an idea of what things will look like.
There's a good chance that the stickers won't be on the final book.)
The Book is a collection of Tim Denee's illustrations of his playthrough of the game Thousand Year Old Vampire. A piece of art was made for each Prompt as he unfurled the story of Othin, a Danish fisherman, who runs afoul of The Rek and is cursed with eternal unlife.
You can see the entire collection of images here. For free. All of 'em.
To be absolutely clear: The contents of this book are, and will remain, freely available to all for as long as we have an internet–you do not need to buy The Book to enjoy Denee's story.
(I'm not going to try to entice you with images from The Book
because you can see them all here.)
What will The Book look like?
Hardcover, gold foil on embossed cloth
8.5" wide by 5" high, or so
88 pages or thereabouts, all color of course, on not-quite-museum-fancy paper
a Thousand Year Old Vampire-level attention to finish
Some of this will change but not by much. You're getting a very pretty little book.
How does the pre-order work?
To pre-order just use the buy button on this page. The Book will be added to your cart and you can check-out normally. Pay now and get The Book in a few months. You can buy other items out of this shop at the same time and they will ship with The Book.
Are there reasons you might cancel the pre-order? What happens if you do?
If something goes terribly wrong with me or the world I'll probably cancel. In case of a cancellation you'll get a full refund.
What is the timeline for this?
The order will be placed with the printer in January and everything should be shipped to you by June. That estimate has some padding in it, but covid/natural disasters/social upheaval might cause delays.
Before shipping I will contact you through your order email and give you a chance to update your address.
Will I be able to change my order around as the delivery time approaches?
Yes, you can update your shipping address and add things to your order from within this Shopify shop. If I run another crowdfunding campaign before this book actually ships I won't combine that shipping with this, it's just too hard to manage. I'm a one-guy operation.
You can always cancel your order, too, for a full refund.
Can I order from outside the US?
Yes, but at your own risk–I can't be responsible for international packages lost in the mail. Make sure you put your phone number AND email in the order to increase your chances of getting the package. If something wild happens and shipping costs skyrocket I might ask you to pay the difference.
Oh! If your country/state/region doesn't allow pre-orders like this then don't pre-order, I guess.
Who is Tim Denee?
Tim Denee is an artist/illustrator/designer I've long admired from afar. He made clever, moving comics of his Dwarf Fortress playthroughs and I LOVED them. When I figured out that the guy making this great TYOV Prompt art was the guy that made the Dwarf Fortress comics I was full of incredulous, suspicious joy. I do not deliver things this good, I thought.
And I'll add this: I am entirely responsible for this book being produced and delivered. Tim Denee is innocent of anything that might go wrong.
Who are you?
I'm Tim Hutchings, I made the game Thousand Year Old Vampire. I'm so in love with Denee's art that I want to see it as a book and I'm hoping you'll help me out with that.
Why should I pre-order The Book?
Well, you shouldn't. Just go and read the comics online. If you really want The Book, though, then you'll get it a little cheaper through the pre-order, and you're helping ensure that a print run will actually happen.
Why are you doing a pre-order and not Kickstarter?
Kickstarter announced that they are moving toward a blockchain systems paired with carbon offsets. Until KS clears up exactly what that means and if it'll be an intense energy waster, I will avoid Kickstarter.
Please don't tell me about blockchains and things. I'm dumb but I know enough to know that no one knows anything til Kickstarter clears things up.
